Venues in London dominate the Beauty & Wellness shortlist, making up six of the ten finalists. In the running are London's Pineapple Dance Studios, Zuba Hair and Beauty, Edinburgh and Chorlton Nail Bar, Manchester.
Other categories at the 2012 Qype Business Awards include Restaurant of the Year, Place of Interest of the Year, and Shopping Venue of the Year.
Winners will be announced on 29 March at an awards bash in London, when finalists could take home one of three awards; winner, highly commended or special recommendation.
The event's top accolades, Business of the Year and Place of the Year, will be awarded to two of the 50 shortlisted businesses.
The winners of Business of the Year and Place of the Year will go on to represent the UK at the Qype World Business of the Year Awards, which will see one business named the best of the 13.5 million places currently listed on Qype worldwide.
"Qype's millions of users offer feedback and opinions on their experiences every day and the Qype Business Awards will take this huge resource into account. We will be celebrating the businesses that have made the greatest positive impact on their customers in the last year. I&K International announces rise in sales of male grooming products
I&K International has announced a 'significant' increase in sales of products from its men's range. The surge in sales is believed to have been a direct result of the addition of new men's products over the last few years, as well as a general increase in the amount of attention men are paying to grooming.
In fact the firm saw an impressive 60% rise in the number of men buying these products when compared to the same time last year. These figures seem to indicate men are paying more attention to their physical appearance and grooming than ever before, and Kevin Kou, managing director at I&K International, believes it is down to a combination of more brands being available, as well as the influence of well-groomed celebrities.
Mr Kou said: "We recently launched some new brands into our men's product range and we're already seeing great results. Since the introduction of products such as The Bluebeards Revenge, men-u and Mitch we've had a large rise in male customers as well as a general rise in the sales of products for men.
"The rise in male grooming is possibly due to the influence of well-groomed male celebrities like David Beckham, Ryan Reynolds and Bradley Cooper. Men are spending more time and money on shopping for their appearance than ever before and we are now starting to see this trend at Hairtrade."
Hairtrade will be adding further products to the men's range as well as new brands throughout the site over the coming months including new hair care, make-up and skin care products.
